Hair Mineral Analysis

A Hair Mineral Analysis is a cost effective, non-invasive test in which a sample of your hair is taken and sent to a laboratory so that they can measure its mineral content. It’s great way to get a complete look at your overall health.

The minerals in your body and their levels determine how you function at a cellular level. They are the pages in your book and can reveal mysteries about your health that diagnostic tests can’t pin point.

Our bodies cannot utilize vitamins and other nutrients properly without a correct balance of minerals. Therefore proper mineral balance is essential to avoid chronic fatigue, weight gain/loss, headaches, depression, osteoporosis and much more. Mineral imbalances have also been linked to oxidative stress that can lead to some forms of cancers and other serious disease and illnesses.

A Hair Mineral Analysis allows you to utilize your hair to work on your health. It can show health issues and body chemistry before your symptoms manifest. The analysis will give you a place to begin and a plan to improve.

Benefits of Hair Mineral Analysis

You may have heard minerals are good for you, but very few understand the importance of ratios and balancing. A Hair Mineral Analysis can provide the explanations you need to balance your health and resolve health issues before they manifest further.

Hair is an excellent biopsy material as it is easy to sample, easily preserved and easy to transport. As hair grows it forms a permanent record of the body’s nutritional deficiencies or excesses. This record allows us to see what is happening on a cellular level.

With correct testing and interpretation, your practitioner can construct a complete metabolic profile of the human body. By correcting both mineral levels and ratios many physical and behavioural health conditions can be prevented or reversed.a

Elevated readings can have different meanings depending upon:

  1. The symptomotolgy of the patient
  2. The elevated concentration of the mineral in question
  3. Whether a specific treatment, regimen or diet is being
    followed
  4. Relationships to other elemental readings

A very high reading may represent a toxic amount of the mineral in the hair, and/or in the body tissues in general. In the case of a toxic metal, any deposition or accumulation in the hair indicates some
degree of toxicity.

High levels of toxic metals inhibit the body’s ability to process and assimilate specific nutritional elements that are essential to good health and have a proven link to many types of diseases.

Hair vs. Blood Analysis

Our blood is considered the ‘highway” within our bodies, its purpose is to help transport the various nutrients to our cells. A blood test is an excellent way to determine what is happening at that very moment during the transportation phase. It is ideal when you are monitoring changes in body. A blood test will change depending on nutritional intake, activity levels and more. What it cannot tell us is what is happening at a cellular level.

An example of this is a blood sugar test. The blood test will measure sugar (glucose) moving in the blood at the time of the test. A Hair Mineral Analysis will show the sugar (glucose) imbalance at the cellular level. You could have symptoms of hypoglycemia however your blood test results come back normal and your Hair Mineral Analysis will show the imbalance and the need for improvement.

With a Hair Mineral Analysis we are utilizing the history of your hair to tell us about your body, as your hair grows it provides a blueprint of the activity in your body at a cellular level. The activity you do or the nutrition you take in on a day to day basis won’t have an impact. Therefore a Hair Mineral Analysis is not useful in an emergency situation however it is very useful for detecting long term patterns and providing information before symptoms manifest themselves.

FAQ

What exactly is a hair mineral analysis?

Your hair contains the same minerals present in your body, this includes both nutritional elements as well as toxic heavy metals. A hair mineral analysis is a laboratory test that measures the content of minerals in your hair and provides in-depth knowledge about the inner workings of your body.

How do I know my hair analysis results are reliable?

All we can say is that you will be amazed! We don’t ask for any medical information prior to running the test and share in our review what the results. Our clients are blown away by the accuracy.

What about contamination - hair dyes etc will these affect my results?

Yes some specific minerals are in products that we use and they will show up. During your results review this will be discussed and explained in detail.

Why wouldn’t I just do a blood or urine test?

Blood and urine tests give information about your minerals as the exact time of the test. For example if you just had a banana, your blood test may indicate high potassium even though you may actually need potassium. These tests can only report what is being transported in your blood at that exact time. Think of blood and urine as a snapshot in time. Where hair is over a period of time.

Why do some health professionals say that hair analysis is not a reliable test?

Did you know that there are over 5000 technical articles published weekly about hair analysis results. We recommend asking why? Have they had an experience? Research etc? Unfortunately those with limited knowledge are often the most critical.

Is a hair analysis covered by insurance?

In most cases they are not, we have had a few clients utilize their health care spending account.

Do I have to be sick or feel badly before using it?

Ideally we would love to see people use the test prior to having any issues or concerns. The test is great for prevention and reducing of toxins. Hair analysis is routinely performed on world-class athletes who push their bodies to understand what their specific needs are.

Can I just take supplements and skip the analysis?

This day and age most people do require some nutritional supplementation as our soil and food is depleted in the nutrients that we need. However we believe it is important to understand your individual needs. For example too much zinc can antagonize vitamin D. Too little vitamin D can agitate calcium, creating poor conditions for absorption and so on. All of this causes a domino affect.

This is all too complicated. Why don’t I just stick with eating healthy?

Sounds easy and reasonable unfortunately in this day and age its much more complicated. The quality of our food and soil has changed drastically. Not to mention our activity levels or lack there of. Additional considerations like genetic factors, metabolic type and stress levels have a drastic impact on our health.
